With vacation season right around the corner, one thing bound to be on everyone’s checklist is something that can capture all of the best memories effectively and with ease. Sure, you could use whatever is built into your smartphone, but how many times have you seen disaster clips of people dropping their phones into lakes, oceans or just about anywhere smartphones are not meant to go. On top of this, smartphones cameras are known for being notoriously bad in certain situations, like low light.
Olympus is here to fix that, with the announcement of their latest camera, the TG-5. Built to last the toughest of situations, the Olympus TG-5 is made to withstand water up to 50 ft., perfect for those underwater selfies that are bound to get the Instagram likes rolling in. The Olympus TG-5 packs all kinds of juicy features into it’s tiny body, one of which is the f/2 lens with 12 megapixels stuffed into the sensor, which means higher ISO ranges for better pictures in low-light that don’t turn out too grainy. The lens is also capable of 4x optical zoom, perfect for getting up close and personal with your subjects. Once taken, the TG-5 can digest and produce images with the newest version of Olympus’ signature image processor, the TruPic VIII, made famous by the OM-D E-M1 Mark II.
In addition to all of this, the coolest feature of the TG-5 has to be it’s built in 4K recording compatibility. With more and more 4K displays becoming easier to access and platforms like YouTube and Vimeo paving the way for 4K video streaming, the TG-5 lets users shoot the ultra high-definition video they’ve always wanted to, anywhere and everywhere.
The Olympus TG-5 is set to come out sometime in June, with a price tag ot $450 USD floating around.
What’s the focal range on the lens (in 35mm equivalent)?
