With the Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3 as the cool kids like to say, only days away, the best of the best from the gaming world will look to impress consumers with the latest they have to offer. With so much going on and so little attention to divide across everything, here are some things we want to see at E3 2017.
Sony will end its presentation with The Last of Us Part 2
When Naughty Dog released The Last of Us in 2014, critics and gamers alike were verbal with their praises for the game. A captivating story combined with one of the most visually pleasing environments we’ve seen on the PS3, it was as near perfect as a game I’ve seen in a while. With the Last of Us Part 2 already confirmed in a jaw-dropping trailer last December, it only makes sense that we’ll see a release date and maybe some alpha footage at E3. With the original game making just under $6 million worldwide, it will be interesting to see how much attention the Playstation exclusive will be getting at this year’s conference.
Destiny 2 will be the centre of attention
As a major title for both the Xbox and Playstation, Destiny 2 is bound to presented during both marquee presentations. With the release date already confirmed for September 8 of this year, count on representatives from Bungie and Activision to focus on the specifics of the game and what we can expect to see from the game’s single player and multiplayer modes. I also expect classes, weapons and everything else the company used to hype the game up will be shown as well. The marketing team for Destiny 2 has been going all out as well, confirming that WWE Star Paul “Big Show” Wright will be leading a panel at E3.
Nintendo will lay low
Days removed from its own Nintendo Direct presentation where the company announced a handful of new Pokemon games, Nintendo doesn’t really have much to say or do at this year’s E3. Early rumors suggest that Nintendo’s presentation should only run about thirty minutes, with company news suggesting that it will focus more so on promoting it’s competitive titles for the Nintendo Switch, like Pokken Tournament DX and Splatoon 2. With large franchises like Zelda already represented this year and the next Mario game already announced and scheduled, don’t expect to much from Nintendo this year.
Other titles we can expect to see
On top of everything already listed above, some major titles likely to get release dates, game play videos and other information on include Far Cry 5, God of War and the next Star Wars Battlefront. We’ll also be getting the latest on this year’s line of sports game. Personally, I’m most excited to see if EA can put out a basketball video game that can compete with NBA 2K, which has been running a monopoly on the basketball market for a while now. EA has also confirmed that on top of this, more information on FIFA 18, Madden NFL 18 and Need for Speed Payback.
